Joanne was born in Sarnia, Ontario as part of the Chippewa Nations and was raised back and forth in the United States and Sarnia where her grandparents resided. Joanne is a well respected and recognized Grandmother to the Toronto Native community and has conducted Full Moon Ceremonies, Welcoming Ceremonies and various others for the past couple of years. Joanne finds her strength in working with the community and concentrates in the betterment of the people. Today, Joanne serves as a mentor to many Aboriginal youth and young families as an experienced and trusted Grandmother. She has also begun working with other agencies and departments of the community conducting Opening Prayers and providing lectures on Aboriginal philosophies.
